Taming anxiety, calming rituals, breathing apps as well as taking a few minutes everyday to mediate has all become the norm among us today due to the never ending hustle and bustle of our hectic lifestyles not to mention our busy work schedules. For many, coffee has been a staple due to its caffeine to help keep you perked up and awake to work and work till eventually you’re finally allowed to head home for some mind numbing sleep. For others, tea is the new coffee. Why? Tea doesn’t just have several health benefits attached to it, but it also promotes drinking a cup as a calming ritual in your life. Black tea and green tea especially have several health benefits and paired together with yoga, this small amount of time you’ve put aside for your self-care will bring wonders to your day. It has been factually proven that pairing yoga and tea together have been used to promote good health and well-being. Drinking tea in the morning after a 10 minute yoga session helps to incorporate good digestion and gut health as well as give your stiff body a good stretch.
Several yoga studios incorporate this practice as tea is an informal yoga tradition. After their final relaxation, most students loathe to enter back into the hustle and bustle of the busy world, as it’s too jarring of an experience and the yoga practice doesn’t fully sink in. For that transition, the bridge between that high energy productivity and yoga, is a nice warm cup of tea. This also allows a conversation and perhaps relationships to unfold; bringing about topics of discussion in a safe space; a trusted gathering. Make it comfortable, it’s all about creating a space where your students feel loved, cared for and nurtured. An experience that has long melted away.

Essential oils can really enhance your yoga practice through their relaxing powers. They have been in use for thousands of years and with natural health remedies gaining more traction, more and more people have been looking into their benefits. Using essential oils during your yoga practice can truly give your classes or sessions a little bit of an oomph.
The latest trend of ‘Yoga Skin’ has been one of the new focal points for women in both skin care as well as health. Inspired by UK Makeup Artist, Sara Hill, it is all about creating that super dewy, ultra luminous skin that you mostly achieve after a good Yoga class where your skin is soft, moist and supple with a slightly blushed, radiant glow. However, Yoga Skin doesn’t last very long and hence the makeup version of looking as ‘natural’ and ‘healthy’ as possible was created. The technique is where you add a few drops of facial oil into a water based foundation and then a few drops of liquid highlighter and then like a luminous moisturised, massage it into your skin slowly. If you like, you can always use a sponge instead however I would suggest using your hands as the heat from your finger pads will allow the solution to absorb into your skin better. And there you have it, real, raw, healthy, hydrated and glowing skin, like you’ve just stepped out from a Cardio Yoga class.
I have recently discovered another no makeup makeup way to achieve ‘Yoga Skin’. Instead of using facial oil and a water based foundation, which could cause problems for those with oily skin, skip the facial oil for night time use instead, and use Hyaluronic Serum instead. It is far more effective in hydrating the skin than a moisturiser or facial oil and locks in moisture a thousand times in weight leaving your face feeling and looking smoother from just the application. So skip the oil and moisturiser if you choose, and with two ingredients, you have achieved ‘Yoga Skin’. Rise Earlier; Finish Earlier
I’m pretty sure you must have read a thousand articles, seen several Social Media Posts all advocating the same piece of advice. Get up earlier and you can get more done. These people aren’t just saying this for the heck of it. This seriously works! Literally just set your alarm 5-10 minutes early, roll out of bed and do 2 rounds of Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar). That’s right. Just 2 and you’ve already begun your practice. Early morning time is so precious—simply sneak in a few poses, and notice how you feel more grounded throughout the day not to mention energised. |
